Our Council Key 3, Mary Kuklinski, Council Commissioner, Russ Nuebauer, Council President and Charlie Rogers, Scout Executive. The Executive Board of Chester County Council, through its Scout Executive Selection Committee, has hired Charles E. Rogers, Jr. (Charlie) as its next Scout Executive. Charlie replaces Eric Magendantz, who was promoted to a similar position with the Mid-America Council in Omaha, Nebraska. Charlie has 23 years of experience as a Scouting professional and comes to us from the Westchester-Putnam Council in Hawthorne, New York. During his Scouting career, Charlie was a District Executive, directed camping operations for six camps, worked on scores of fundraisers and capital campaigns, developed strategic plans, and developed a marketing committee and advanced membership in all areas, including outreach to minority communities. Most recently, Charlie was the Development Director for Westchester-Putnam and has helped to put that council on a firm financial footing. Charlie’s career in Scouting was interrupted when he served a six-year term in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear electronics technician. The Rogers clan includes his wife, Kathy, who is founder and CEO of “Set to a Tea”, a combination home-party and web-based tea business (http://www.settoatea.com/). Kathy has been deeply involved in Scouting, serving as handicraft director at a Boy Scout camp and living at camp for many summers. Eldest of their three Scouts is daughter Justine, who is a junior at Rowan University, former president of her Venturing Crew, and office manager at Ten Mile River Scout Camp this summer. Next is Tom who will be a high school junior, loves soccer and Scouts, and is working on his Eagle rank. Tom is looking forward to joining one of our fine troops and to high adventures in Scouting. The youngest is Patrick, who will make a big splash in his sixth grade class this fall and as he continues on the Scouting trail. He is awaiting his Scoutmaster’s conference to complete his 2nd Class requirements and he, too, looks forward to joining one of Chester County Council’s finest units. Patrick’s top grades are matched by his terrific sense of humor and outgoing personality. Charlie is expected to begin on or about September 12th. Please welcome this wonderful family as they settle into their new home in Chester County. |

Subject: Meeting with King / Queen of Sweden Sent: Aug 1, 2011 6:18 AM
Another fine rep from CCC. We had Venturer Meghan Pierson from Chester County Council act as our rep at a reception last night for the King and Queen of Sweden. She is with our NER Venture Crew 70007.
She had the opportunity to meet the King and Queen personally and made quite an impression on both. What an opportunity for a very self assured, gracious, energetic and motivated 16 year old.
Sun finally out bright today after 3-4 days of light, medium, and heavy rain. What a hoot this is.
Jim Wilson
Meghan is registered with Crew 93 of Westminster Presbyterian Church |

Bring Scouts and non-Scouts together to show respect for those involved with the events of September 11, 2001. Scouts are encouraged to serve in their communities September 1-10, 2011, using the suggested service projects and posting them to web and social media channels. In addition, these activities should be recorded in the Journey to Excellence service program. Activities: • Select, plan, and schedule your service project during September 1- September 10. • Post your service project ideas and event pictures on www.scoutsurge911.org, the council’s Facebook page or other social media. • Simple programs can focus on honoring fire fighters, policemen or other public servants. • Groups should gather at 8:46 AM on September, 11 2011 and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. • Gather as a group on September 11 and invite non-Scout friends to watch the movie, New York Says Thank You, which tells the story of the first responders to the New York City terrorist attacks. • Purchase the Scout Surge 911 patch, available for purchase at www.scoutstuff.org beginning August 1. Fellow Venturers, I am proud to announce that the majority of the Northeast Region Venturing Officers Association for the 2011-2012 term have been selected! As you already know, Christine Luczka from Chester County Council in Pennsylvania has been selected by her peers as our next Regional Venturing President. Christine has now chosen two of her Vice Presidents to support her and Venturing throughout the upcoming term. Troy Mullins from Green Mountain Council in Vermont will be serving as our Vice President for Administration. Jacob Ross from Susquehanna Council in Pennsylvania will be serving as our Vice President for Communication. I would just like to welcome these two young men to the Regional Venturing team! I know that they are both extremely qualified for these positions and they will do an amazing job improving the Venturing program in our region. Christine has made the decision to wait until the Area Venturing Presidents have been selected before continuing her search for another Regional VP team member. We all know that the Regional Officers job would be much harder if some of the Area’s were missing officers. Please keep an eye out for more information on this available position. Please join me in congratulating Christine, Jacob and Troy and wishing them good luck for their upcoming term! Gina Curtis 2010-2011 Northeast Region Venturing President Christine and Gina are both from Crew 23 Chester County Council of Downingtown. |
